AI Centrism: A Talk by Martha Kenney

What do we make of the response of higher education to new AI technologies? Dr. Martha Kenney and Dr. Martha Lincoln have critiqued the adoption of LLMs by universities, specifically regarding CSU's agreement with OpenAI. Dr. Kenney will speak about their concept of "AI Centrism" and university contracts with AI firms. AI Centrism names the rhetoric and policies that appear to create a middle ground between boosters and critics, but in practice are equivalent to uncritical adoption.
